Well it has been 2 ½ months since we got back from the trip and I now am deciding to write in on the computer. I decided I need to go back and reflect on what I talked about in the log. Earlier, I mentioned the compass, water filter and first-aid kit. Now I realize that I needed to bring all of this stuff for myself. I think this time I brought too much food because I ended up bringing back two pounds of it. I need to bring only the food I will eat and just a little more for emergencies. Here is the stuff I didn't use or was useless for a trip with this kind of weather and climate: footprint, rain clothes, foil, gloves, towel, beany, camp shoes (they were uncomfortable and not economical; I wore my boots amost all of the time without a problem). The rain gear and foil I will continue to take for obvious reasons but the rest can go. Here is the stuff I didn't take but need to next time: small plastic water basin (as opposed to a cloth water bucket), a daypack, a repair kit, a tackle bag, a pillow (maybe; I had a lot of trouble sleeping; also I need back support for my chair) Also, I want to think about getting some kind of plastic covers for my boots so I don't have to walk through streams barefoot and so I don't have to get my non-waterproof boots wet.. Here is the stuff I need to change: get a smaller reel with 2 lb test. Get my own water filter. Get a more durable sleeping pad. Bring less fuel (for three nights, I only need 12oz of fuel). In all of the excitement, I forgot to mention some of the important information about the trip. One thing is the climate. We expected to be sleeping in snow but almost all of it was melted or melting. It was warm or hot (I even woke up hot) and the sun beat down pretty bad. The mosquitoes weren't too bad except for behind rocks in the shade near the water.
