09:53: Today I woke a little after 9:00. I still had the same troubles with my neck. I'm starting to come up with the design for my next backpack which will fix the flaws of this one. I'm on my first set of spare batteries because my flashlight turned on again yesterday. I have to do a little bit of medical care for my feet because they got tore up a bit during yesterday's hike. My washed clothes are dry, but in some places slightly scorched because they were too close to the fire too long. Right now, the sun's starting to bleed through. Mr. Cleek went upstream to retrieve his sunglasses which he set down yesterday. I think we should get to at least Big River today. It is four miles away, but the whole trail there is dirt up in the flats area so we should make good time. I figure it may take us 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get there. Thats pretty close to halfway through the trip, day wise and mile wise.
14:50: We made it to Big Creek, here on out known as Hadley Creek. We found a nice place a little ways in with some trees and the creek nearby. We found bear tracks down on the beach here so we are going to tie our food up tonight. More confusion: before I thought I hiked to Oat Creek. That was actually Spanish Creek. That makes more sense because Randall to Spanish Creek is 2 miles. We saw a cabin after Spanish Creek. I hiked up to the cabin while Mr. Cleek hiked up Spanish Creek. When we crossed Kinsley Creek, we saw another cabin, this time with a truck parked in front. So much for a natural setting. I figured out that yesterday I walked about 8 miles finding a camp spot, only 3 of which were useful. We are now at the halfway point.
20:07: We hiked about a mile up Hadley Creek. We found some four foot falls. Along the creek in places water fell down the canyon walls, sometimes as much as 30 feet. It was pretty, but pictures wouldn't have caught the water right and they wouldn't have looked right. Maybe I'll go up tomorrow. It took about 20 minutes to get the ropes over the branch. We found ropes nearby that are thick someone had left behind. We are about 1/8 mile up the creek and there is a group at the mouth. Lots of people at the Lost Coast. My neck really hurts pretty bad. I could really use Jenny giving me a neck rub.
