09:56: I slept okay last night. I woke up numerous times to change positions, but when I was asleep it was a deep sleep. I got up at 9 when the sun was baking the inside of my tent. For breakfast I had a pack of oatmeal and a powerbar. I chunked up 1/2 the bar into the oatmeal and it was pretty good, adding some texture and flavor. I have on my preparatory sunblock for the day hike, as if it's going to do any good.

12:56: We hiked up to the waterfall and I enjoyed myself very much. We crossed to the north side of the creek and hiked well above the creek. There was a fairly easy route there.

We got some pictures there, then we crossed to the south side of the waterfall pool where there was lots of shade. I decided to swim in the pool and cross to a rock. The pool was deep and the current was fast there, but I made it safely over and back. Carl went back downstream to go fishing, Bill went upstream to go swimming, and I stayed to relax and read. After a while I got cold because the waterfall mist was blowing on me so I packed up and headed downstream. After metting up with Carl I found a nice shady spot to eat lunch and relax.

Getting my shoes wet to cross the creek was okay, though they won't dry for a while. Plus the shoes and socks attract dirt on dry ground, making them dirty and uncomfortable.

23:03: After we got back I headed to the lake for a swim. The water level has gone up several inches again, making reaching the rocky point an exercise in boulder hopping. After doing my laundry I put on my sweat pants to let my shorts dry and I laid down in the shade.

After my nap the three of us played rummy (I won but barely) then had dinner. For a while I couldn't find my spoon but eventually Bill found it in the bottom of my food canister. We ate late, around 9 o'clock. After the fire we laid out on the warm rocks for some start gazing, but this time I didn't see a shooting star.

I can feel the heat of sunburn on my shoulders and neck. Maybe next year I should prepare better by getting a little more sun.
