11:58: Last night I woke up at least 9 times. I know that because I used the rotating dial on my watch. Every time I woke up enough to remember to click the dial, I did. The water level is much higher now requiring a wade to the point.
On my way to finding a place to go to the bathroom I stumbled upon a doe no more than forty feet away. Of course my camera was at the bottom of my pack. We stared at each other for about 10 seconds before I started to slowly take off my pack. After another 15 seconds of fumbling through my pack I pullout out the camera case. Just as I was about to open the lid to pull out the camera, the deer stomped one of its front feet then took off through the bushes. I followed, but it was already long gone. That would have been a great picture.
Well, Bill and I hiked up to the top of the peak that I wanted to try. It was quite tiring. At the very top we didn't have a good view, but on our way up we stopped at a rock outcrop and got some pretty good pictures. For the moment we are resting in the shade near the top. Eventually we'll need to head back to camp, where I'll need to find some shade and relax, after a bath of course.
18:21: The hike down the hill was faster, but more difficult in some places. Near the bottom we bushwacked through some pretty nasty bushes that stood well over our head for about 100 yards. After we got back I headed right for the lake for a dip.
Afterward I laid down in whatever shade I could find. I read a little, napped a little, and pulled some stickers out of my socks and shoes. The top of my head is very sunburned. I think in the future I'll have to wear a hat even though it is much hotter.
I found that I like spaghetti as mush as I like Lasagna. Maybe I'll just stick to those for a while. We'll be heading home a day early for many reasons. For one, we've exhausted most of what a person could do here. Plus I'm hurt from sunburn and Carl is ready to go home.
22:58: Earlier I said the top of my head was very sunburned. Now I'm convinced it's very very sunburned, possibly the most sumburned part of my body. Thankfully Bill will lend me his hat for tomorrow's hike so it doesn't get worse. Right now it hurts to touch my head and hurts to lay on my pillow.
We played some more Rummy then had a fire. I had a huge cup of hot chocolate. Then we went to look at stars, but the moon was out later so it wasn't as good as the first night.
