Soon to solo

Today's lesson went very well. Nick went over my pre-solo exams, and his corrections were very instructive. We started off in the pattern and I executed four decent landings. Then we headed east to work on some maneuvers. Nick then demonstrated a spin, which was totally awesome but somewhat freaky. Before a fully developed spin the plane was actually partially inverted and during the spin the plane was pointing nearly straight down. Explanations in books don't give it justice! I executed another decent landing on 28R at the end of the flight.

I handled the plane pretty well today so Nick said that I should be good to take the solo stage check with Kareem within a week. So I might solo next lesson, or the one after! I am pretty confident that I'll do well, even though I only have 8.7 hours.

We asked Keith if I can switch over to flying the 172 reducing my hours to 40. He would only allow it if I switch to Part 141. Since that requires daily ground school at 9:00 am, plus it would cost me extra, it's simply not the way to go. My plan is to stick with the 152 and do my best to lose weight. If I haven't made enough progress by the time I'm about ready to take the checkride, I will switch over to the 172. If I'm ready at 40 hours, I have 10 hours I can convert to 172 time. If I'm over or Keith won't let me convert, I'm prepared to pay extra to get ready for the checkride in the 172. Afterward, I'll be endorsed to fly solo in both a 152 and a 172. Woo hoo!!!
