The flight training situation seems to change almost daily lately. Yesterday I couldn't fly because the plane was out of service, so I went in to today's check-ride practice with Paul cold. I didn't do as well as I thought I would do. It was hot, I was dehydrated, and I got motion sick twenty minutes into the flight, but it was obvious even still that my failures were due to lack of knowing how nearly all operations were supposed to be conducted. In a sense, I pretty much winged them all. This boils down to lack of experience, though the lack of instruction probably played a role too. So this is my wake-up call: I'm not ready!
I believe I'm going to be ready to take my check-ride sometime in September though, hopefully before Colorado. I'm not going to be flying in Colorado, but it would be nice to have it done. The last several days I've been cramming for the oral portion of the test and doing so has paid off. The oral portion with Paul today went quite well. He gave me some excellent pointers so I should do even better on the actual exam. I'm going to continue to put in serious study time to really kick butt. I'm going to try to cram in lots of flight practice next week too. Perhaps some solo maneuver flight on Saturday will get me in good shape.
