The last blog entry seemed like a long time ago, and so much has happened. We got in to Liz and Cy's house at about 5pm on Monday. One Tuesday, we did our closing, pulled the truck in, and unloaded everything into the garage. In the last ten days we've slowly been settling in to our house. We're about 75% unpacked. We still have a handful of boxes in the living room and a lot of miscellaneous stuff in the garage. I won't be satisfied until everything is in a smart place. Fortunately there should be plenty of room to put stuff. In our four bedroom house, 2.5 bath house, three bedrooms and one bathroom are completely unused.
I've had my first taste of yard work. The previous owners hadn't kept up the lawn or plants, so the plants were overgrown, weeds were everywhere, parts of the lawn have died and other parts had grown too long. In the first few days I trimmed back some of the plants, and today I did a heck of a lot of work in the front yard, mowing (thanks again Carl and Patti!!!), pulling weeds, and trimming plants. The backyard needs much more work, but is less important since the neighbors see it more. I've said "hi" to most of our neighbors at this point, but we haven't fully introduced ourselves.
Working from home is great. I am just as productive, but there are some perks. I have a very short commute, I save money by eating at home, and I can listen to streaming radio.
We're really excite about our house. I can see that there's constantly some work or improvement that can be done on it. Jenny has been able to make Skype video calls with Patti, and there is plenty of room in this house for when people come to visit. We'll be looking at dogs soon, after we get everything in its place. Maybe I'll put up some pictures soon.
