We woke up this morning a little later than we wanted, about 11am, with the knowledge of needing to get started on Stage 2 (wood-prep) of the deck project. The paint free deck actually looked pretty good so Jenny is starting to reconsider whether we should paint at all. Paint or no paint, we still needed to do Stage 2, and we needed to finish before 3pm or I'd get charged for another day's rental of the power washer.
Fortunately stage 2 was much easier than stage 1. We just had to dampen the deck, mix up the solution, and apply the solution with the plastic pump sprayer that we'll also be using to put on the paint/sealer. Two hours later the job was complete. This stuff actually seemed to work pretty well. It brightened up the wood and got rid of some of the dark spots just as advertised. It's not miracle stuff, so the very dark areas are still kind of dark, but there's also a little character in that. Jenny's leaving for her business trip, so I get to see what it looks like tomorrow with the brightened wood.
