I've neglected to write anything in my blog about parenthood, mostly out of laziness, but also because Jenny is doing a great job of doing it on her blog, ericandjennythomas.blogspot.com. I will try to be better though.
Emily, born November 30th, 2009, spent the first month of her life in a room at Jenny's Grandparent's house through Christmas. She is simply an angel, even now only crying, for the most part, when she wants to be fed. There are times when she cries to be held, and we haven't quite yet figured out how to deal with that except to hold her. She lets us sleep in 4-7 hours stretches, waking to be fed and changed. And during the day she sleeps most of the time, though when she is awake she is a happy baby. She is so darn cute and even I am finding it fun, now and then, to see her in all the cute clothes everyone has gotten for her.
She is still a small baby, probably less than ten pounds. She is due for a growth spurt which will mean she will eat more at sittings and, hopefully, lead to her sleeping through the night. I'm hoping this happens within the next few weeks before Jenny starts going back to work.
I suppose my posts about fatherhood will be mainly about milestones in her life: first steps, first day of school, etc. Right now the only milestone is that she has started smiling every now and then, and no they aren't always gas-related.
