Today I took off half a day from work to take advantage of the clear skies and light winds, and do some flying. I did 12 landings in the 1.2 hours, with a focus on short-field and soft-field landings. This effort is in preparation for my upcoming long cross country flights, where I may have to land on shorter and softer runways than I'm used to.
The tanks weren't full to begin with, and without anyone in the right seat, the plane had darn good performance for me today. Nearly every approach started high and I had to go through extra effort to get down and slow. Most landings were simply average, with only a few being properly executed as soft or short. What this means is, I need more practice and more frequent practice.
